EarlyintheperiodoftheRepublicofChina,inAugust1913,theGovernmentoftheRepublicofChinaheadedbyYuanShikaisentadelegationtoparticipateintripartitetalksinBritishIndiabetweenChina,BritainandTibet.ThiswasunderpressurefromtheBritishGovernmentandtheaimwasto“solve”thesocalledTibetanissue.BeingheldinSimla,theconferencewasrememberedbyhistoryastheSimlaConference.Afterlong-drawn-outnegotiations,noagreementwasreached.TheconferenceendedinfailurethefollowingJuly。
