Paulowniaisafast-growingtreespeciesthatismainlyfoundinthecentralpartofChina.ThreemaincultivationareasofPaulowniaaretheYellow-Huai-HaiPlain,southoftheYangtzeRiver,andaridandsemi-aridareasofNorthwesternChina.Thereare9species,4varietiesand4formsusedintheproductioninChina.Studyachievementswereobtainedinthefieldsofspecies/varietyintroduction,selectionandbreeding,afforestationtechniquesaswellasthecontrolofdiseasesandpests.Themainproblemsexistinginthecurrentproductionincludelackofimprovedvarieties,mix-upofdifferentvarietiesandvarietydegenerationduetothelongcourseofasexualreproduction.Theauthorputforwardcountermeasuresfortheproblems.
