AIM:Tounderstandthecorrelationofserumcholinesterase(CHE)activitywithgastriccancerandtoassesstheirclinicalsignificance.METHODS:ThevelocitymethodwasadoptedtodetecttheactivityofserumCHEinpatientswithgastriccancerandinpatientswithnon-malignanttumorascontrols.RESULTS:TheserumCHEactivityinthetreatmentgroupwassignificantlylowerthanthatinthecontrolgroupwithaverysignificantdifferencebetweenthetwogroups(83.3:113.1,P=0.0003).Agewassignificantlyassociatedwiththeincidenceofgastriccaner.CONCLUSION:SerumCHEactivityhasacloserelationwiththeincidenceofgastriccancer.
