ResearchersattheCentersforDiseaseControlanalyzeddatafromtheNationalHealthandNutritionExaminationSurveyfrom2005/2006,themostrecentyearsavailable.Nearly4,000adultsover20-year-oldcompletedaphysical,hadtheirbloodpressuretakenandansweredasurveyofwhatthey’deatenoverthepast20.Thisfoodsurveywastakenagainaboutaweeklater.

Accordingtothedata,lessthan10percentofadultsarelimitingtheirsodiumtorecommendedlevels.

Theresearcherssuggestthatfoodmanufacturersreducethesodiuminpro-cessedfoods.Andthatconsumersmodifytheireatinghabits—whichmightmeandoingmorecookingathome,whereyouhavecontrolofthesalt.
