ThispaperpresentstwodifferentalgorithmsthatderivethecohesionstructureintheformoflexicalchainsfromtwokindsoflanguageresourcesHowNetandTongYiCiCiLin.There-searchthatconnectsthecohesionstructureofatexttothederivationofitssummaryisdisplayed.Anovelmodelofautomatictextsummarizationisdevised,basedonthedataprovidedbylexicalchainsfromoriginaltexts.Moreover,theconstructionrulesoflexicalchainsaremodifiedaccord-ingtocharacteristicsoftheknowledgedatabaseinordertobemoresuitableforChinesesumma-rization.EvaluationresultsshowthathighqualityindicativesummariesareproducedfromChi-nesetexts.
