TheanalysisoftherelationshipbetweenseaiceinArcticandAntarctic,andtheSouthernOscillationIndex(SOI)variationonthetemporalscaleofmonth,seasonandyearismadeinthispaper.ThenegativecorrelationbetweenseaiceinArcticandtheSOI.andthepositivecorrelationbetweenseaiceinAntarcticandtheSOIarefound.ThevariationofseaiceinAntarcticPacificseemstoplayanimportantroleintheinfluencetoatmosphere.Theirnonlinearrelationshipspresentmorestronglythanthelinearrelationshipbetweenthem.TherelationshipbetweenseaiceinArcticandAntarcticandtheSOIintheearlystageisinvestigated.Theirvariationshowsperiodicphenomena.ThemaximumcorrelationisusedtobuildthemodelforforecastingthevariationoftheSOIontheconditionoftheseaiceinArcticandAntarctic.Theexplainedvarianceofthesimulatedseriesisgreaterthan0.90.Thereexistsa17-monthperiodintherelationshipbetweenseaiceinArcticandAntarcticandSOI.Theexistingofthecommonfactorwithlargerscaleisdiscussedinthispaper.
