Anoveloptimizationalgorithmcalledstochasticfocusingsearch(SFS)forthereal-parameteroptimizationisproposed.Thenewalgorithmisaswarmintelligencealgorithm,whichisbasedonsimulatingtheactofhumanrandomizedsearching,andthehumansearchingbehaviors.Thealgorithm'sperformanceisstudiedusingachallengingsetoftypicallycomplexfunctionswithcomparisonofdifferentialevolution(DE)andthreemodifiedparticleswarmoptimization(PSO)algorithms,andthesimulationresultsshowthatSFSiscompetitivetosolvemostpartsofthebenchmarkproblemsandwillbecomeapromisingcandidateofsearchalgorithmsespeciallywhentheexistingalgorithmshavesomedifficultiesinsolvingcertainproblems.
