Inrecentyears,scientistshavebeenincreasinglyinterestedintheenergyembodiedintradedgoodsamongcountries.Inthisarticle,thedirectenergyintensitiesinvariouseconomicsectorsofChinawerecalculatedwiththedataofenergyconsumptionandoutputvalueofeachsector,andtheinput-outputtablewasusedtoestimatetheexternalenergyconsumption.Thetotalenergyintensityofallsectorswasthenobtained.Fromthedataofinternationaltrade,theenergyembodiedingoodstradeofChinawasestimatedfortheperiodof1994-2001.Duringthisperiod,theaverageenergyintensityofimportedgoodswasalwayshigherthanthatofexportedones.Asacountrywithasurplusininternationalgoodstrade,Chinaactuallyimportednetembodiedenergyinthepastfewyears.Thenetembodiedenergyimportedwasatthesamemagnitudeoftheimportedenergyintheformoffossilfuels.
