Lens-likevateriteCaCO3microringscomposedofCaCO3nanoparticlesweresynthesizedviaamicro-emulsion-mediatedrouteatroomtemperaturewithethanolandn-hexanolasco-surfactant.Thisprocessdidnotde-mandanyadditionalenergysuchasheatingorcontinuousagitation.Itwasthefirsttimetouseethanolasco-surfactantinthesynthesisofmicroornanomaterials.AndtheethanolwasbelievedtoplayanimportantroleintheaggregationfashionofCaCO3nanoparticles.Moreover,shuttle-shapednanorods,hexagonalnanoplates,andrice-likenanoparticleswerealsofabricatedbymodulatingthegrowthparameters.Additionally,theintroduceofethanolintomicroemulsionsasco-surfactantmaybegeneralizedasanovelgreenroutetocontrolthestructureofotherfunctionalmaterials.
