Basedontheanalysisoftropicalcyclone(TC)databaseintheNorthwestPacific(NWP)from1945to2008,wenotonlyextractthetemporalvariationofTCintensityandfrequency,butalsogivetheirspatialdistributionbothintheNWPandintheSouthChinaSea(SCS).TheresultsshowthatthereisanobservationalincreaseofTCactivities,whichmanifestsastheenhancementofthepowerdissipationindex(PDI)andthegrowthofTCfrequency,especiallyfortyphoonsandstrongtyphoons.TheinhomogeneousspatialdistributionsofTCfrequencyandintensityarealsoprovidedbothintheNWPandintheSCS.Forexample,theregionofZhongshaIslandsandDongshaIslandsintheSCS(15°～22°N,115°～120°E),westtothePhilippineIslandsistheplacewithfrequentoccurrenceofstrongtyphoons,amongwhichthewindspeedof7TCsin64yearsexceeds60m/s.
