简介:WeinvestigateinthispapertheinfluenceofslowlightonthebalancebetweentheKerrandtwo-photonabsorption(TPA)processesinsiliconslottedhybridnonlinearwaveguides.Threetypicalsiliconphotonicwaveguidegeometriesarestudiedtoestimatetheinfluenceofthelightslow-downfactoronthemodefieldoverlapwiththesiliconregion,aswellasonthecomplexeffectivenonlinearsusceptibility.Itisfoundthatslottedphotoniccrystalmodestendtofocalizeintheirhollowcorewithincreasinggroupindex(n_G)values.Consideringahybridintegrationofnonlinearpolymersinsuchslottedwaveguides,arelativedecreaseoftheTPAprocessbymorefactorof2ispredictedfromn_G=10ton_G=50.Asawhole,thisworkshowsthattherelativeinfluenceofTPAdecreasesforslottedwaveguidesoperatingintheslowlightregime,makingthemasuitableplatformforthird-ordernonlinearoptics.
