简介：AbstractIntroduction:Bowen’s disease is a squamous cell carcinoma in situ. It is more common on the head and neck, less common on the nail units in which it usually involves the second to fourth fingers of both hands. Here, we report a case of Bowen’s disease involving the left fifth finger of a 78-year-old Chinese woman.Case presentation:The patient was treated with nine sessions of topical 5-aminolevulinic acid-photodynamic therapy (5-ALA-PDT), with a one-week interval between sessions. The 5-ALA cream was applied to the lesion and the region surrounding its marginal diameter by 0.5 cm. After 3-4 hours, the lesion was irradiated with 635 ± 10 nm red light at an intensity of 80 mw/cm2 for 20 minutes. An excellent result with a topical 5-ALA-PDT was reached.Discussion:PDT involves the application of a combination of a photosensitizing drug and light to cause selective damage to the target tissue. PDT is more appropriate than surgical excision for lesions located in sites with poor healing ability.Conclusion:PDT appears to be effective, safe and has a better cosmetic outcome in the treatment of Bowen’s disease of the finger unit.

简介：AbstractIntroduction:Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide. Most genital herpes occur on the genitalia, perineum, buttocks, upper thighs, or perianal areas. However, there were reports of rare cases of genital herpes on urethral orifice.Herein, we report a case of a patient who was diagnosed with urethral orifice genital herpes, a place likely to be ignored.Case presentation:A 53-year-old woman presented with vagina pruritus at first, with subsequent burning sensation around urethra. Mycostatin and mycospor were administered for the treatment of the pruritus. Then levofloxacin was prescribed. Finally, the patient was given treatment with acyclovir. Different from other cases, the investigation showed herpes simplex virus type 1 DNA positive and herpes simplex virus type 2 DNA negative by PCR. The patient was therefore diagnosed with genital herpes.Discussion:Most genital herpes happen on the genitalia, perineum, buttocks, upper thighs, or perianal areas. Few cases have been reported that genital herpes occurred on urethral orifice till now.Conclusion:If there is no typical symptoms that patient present with herpes simplex virus type 1 or 2 positive, urethral orifice genital herpes should be considered.

简介：AbstractA 19-year-old male patient who suffered from sudden and repeated multiple organ dysfunction syndrome one month after the bar removal procedure of Nuss surgery for pectus excavatum was admitted to our department. With organ function supportive treatment, the etiology was finally identified to be a bone spur located at the inner border of the left costa due to repeated friction between the implanted steel bar and the rib, which damaged the heart repeatedly and induced the consequent acute cardiac tamponade. After operation, the patient was successfully managed and discharged. Follow-ups till three years indicated a good recovery.
