简介：Phaeodactylumtricornutumisoneoftheimportantmarinediatomsforoceanicprimaryproduction.Itsreproductionhasprofoundsignificanceinthelifecycle;however,thenuclearbehaviorduringitssexualreproductionwasnotclear.Inthisstudy,weobservedthenucleartransitionanddetermineditscorrelationwithcellconjunction.Itwasfoundthattwocellsjointedattheirapicesfirstandswungandalignedeachotherimmediately,andnucleusfromonecellwasabletotransferintoanotheroneduringcellconjugation.Thecellpairsconjugatedfornucleartransitionweredifferentfromthoseformedinmitosisinhypovalvethicknessandcellulararrangement.OurfindingsprovedtheexistenceofsexualreproductioninP.tricornutum.
