Longnon-codingRNAs(lncRNAs)refertoagroupofRNAsthatareusuallymorethan200nucleotidesandarenotinvolvedinproteingeneration.Instead,lncRNAsareinvolvedindifferentregulatoryprocesses,suchasregulationofgeneexpression.DifferentlncRNAsexistthroughoutthegenome.LncRNAsarealsoknownfortheirrolesindifferenthumandiseasessuchascancer.HOTAIRisanlncRNAthatplaysaroleasanoncogenicmoleculeindifferentcancercells,suchasbreast,gastric,colorectal,andcervicalcancercells.Therefore,HOTAIRexpressionlevelisapotentialbiomarkerfordiagnosticandtherapeuticpurposesinseveralcancers.ThisRNAtakespartinepigeneticregulationofgenesandplaysanimportantroleindifferentcellularpathwaysbyinteractingwithPolycombRepressiveComplex2(PRC2).Inthisreview,wedescribethemolecularfunctionandregulationofHOTAIRanditsroleindifferenttypesofcancers.
