Anewtypeofhybridweldingmethodcalledresistanceplugwelding(RPW)wasfirstlyadoptedtoachievetheconnectingofdissimilarsteel,mainlyasforthepoorweldingcharacteristicsofhighstrengthsteelproducedbyincreasingcarbon,manganese,silicon,etc.MicrostructuresandmechanicalpropertiesofRPWjointwereanalyzedbyopticalmicroscope,micro-hardnesstestandsheartensilemeasurement.ExperimentalresultsindicatethattheRPWjointhasaroundedrectanglenugget,andthesizeislargerthanellipticalnuggetofresistancespotwelding(RSW)joint;thehardnessvalueofRPWjointisevenlydistributed,accordinglythereisnohardbrittlephases;thesheartensilestrengthofRPWjointincreasesby20%incomparisonwithRSWjointunderthesameweldingconditions.
