Formationofapoptoticbodiesisatypicalcharacterofapoptoticcelldeath,buthowtheprocessesarecontrolledisnotknown.Inthisstudy,wecomparedtwoapoptosisinducingsystemsinvascularendothelialcells(VEC).Wefoundthattheformationofapoptoticbodiesduringapoptosisinducedbyrattlesnakevenom,whichisanuniqueandspecificapoptosisinducertovascularendothelialcells,wasmuchfasterthanthatinducedbydeprivationofsurvivalfactors(aFGFandserum).WhenweblockedthesynthesisofmRNAsincellstreatedwithrattlesnakevenombyDRB(5,6-dichloro-1-β-D-ribofuranosylbenzimidazole),aninhibitoroftranscription,theformationofapoptoticbodieswasdramaticallyinhibited.WeexaminedtheexpressionofP^53geneandfoundthatitsexpressionwasmuchhigherinapoptosisinducedbyrattlesnakevenomthatthatinapoptosisinducedbydeprivationofaFGFandserum.OurresultssuggestthatgeneexpressionisimportantandP^53genemayplayamajorroleininducingtheformationofapoptoticbodiesinVEC.
