Throughmechanicalanalysis,animprovedhydraulicmodelforannularcuttingstransportwithfoamwasestablishedforhorizontaldrilling.Basedonthetwocriticalinclinationangles,theentirewellwaspidedintothreesegments.TheBagnoldstress,generalizedpowerlawrheologicalmodelandmodifiedhinderedparticlesettlingvelocityinfoamfluidwereadoptedinthemodeltoimprovethesimulationaccuracy.Theproposedmodelallowsmoreprecisepredictionofcuttingstransportpropertyinthewholerangeofwellinclinationangle.Modelperformancewasexaminedviacasestudyandexperimentaldata.Simulationresultsgivenbythepropulsioniterationandtrial-and-errormethodagreewellwithin-situhorizontalwelldrillingpracticeforthecasestudy,andthecomparisonbetweenthemodelpredictionandCapo’sexperimentaldatashowssatisfactoryagreement.
