  1. learn about Li Ming’s and Wang Mei’s questions and views of life through listening , speaking and reading activities;(学习理解)
  2. talk about success and happiness with the help of the teacher.(应用实践)

1.Li Ming’s and Wang Mei’s questions and views of life.

 Free talk

Let students have a free talk:

Are you familiar with these people? Who are they ? What do you know about them?

Step 2:  Watch the video and think what success is.

For people of different ages, success has different meanings.

Step 3: Listening

For different people , success has different meanings, too.

Step 4: Speaking

Think about it! What does success mean to you? What is success?

Step 5: View and say!

Look at the picture carefully. What are they doing?

Step 6: Listening

What are they talking about? Listen to Paragragh1-3 and fill in the blank .

They are talking about the meaning of ____________.

Step 7: Reading

Read paragraph 4-5, and list the questions they asked.

Step 8: Dig in!

Wang Mei and Li Ming have asked so many questions about success.

Do you have any questions about success? What are they? Please ask more questions about success.

Step 9: Listening  Listen to Paragraph 6-8 and finish the mind map.Step 10Read Paragraph 6-8 and find out which sentences can show their ideas.

Wang Mei: We should try our best to live a good and happy life.

Step 11: Read Paragraph 6-8 again and find out what wecan infer(推断) from their dialogue?

A: We need to live a happy life, and we don't need to care about others.

Step 12: Have you ever wondered about the meaning of life? List your questions, and make up a dialogue, then talk about them with your partner.

Step 13: Read Paragraph 9-10 and answer the question.

Wang Mei and Li Ming have many questions about the meaning of life. What are they going to do with these questions?

They will write these questions down and then survey their parents, friends,and neighbors about their thoughts.

Step 14: Read the lesson through and fill in the blanks.

After the history class, Li Ming sits in the classroom, deep in thought. Wang Mei comes in, and they start a ________. Li Ming wonders about the ________ of life. We may have many questions about the meaning of life. But there is one thing we are sure we should try our best to live a happy life.

What do you need to be happy? Think about it. List one thing that makes you happy and give a reason.

For example:

Friends make me happy. We need help, support and encouragement from our friends to achieve success. We also need friends to share our happiness.

Another example:

Health makes me happy. Health is important for living a full and active life. You need to be healthy to work and play.

Does your hobby/work/family/others’ praise/helping others makes you happy?

Please fill in the mind map. Then give a reason for each thing you list.

Life can be good. Life can be bad. Life is what you make it. Try your best to live a meaningful and successful life.
