Removalofsinglecomponentandbinarymixturesofbenzeneandm-xyleneusingamulti-pin-meshreactorwasstudiedtofindthedecompositioncharacteristics,carbonbalanceandCO_2selectivity.Thedecompositionrateofbenzeneinmixturewasapproximately16%lowerthanthatofsinglecomponentbenzene.However,thedecompositionrateofm-xyleneinmixturewasslightlyhigherthanthatofsinglecomponentm-xylene.Carbonbalanceofthemixturedecompositionprocessachievedalowerlevelthanthatofsinglecomponentbenzene/m-xylene.IncreaseinthespecificinputenergywashelpfultoimproveCO_2selectivityinthesinglecomponentdecompositionprocess,whilethespecificinputenergyhadanegligibleeffectonCO_2selectivityinthemixturedecompositionprocess.Bychangingtheoxygencontentinbackgroundgas,wefoundthatdifferenttypesofradicalsshoweddifferentreactionactivitiestowardbenzeneandm-xylene.Benzenewasmorelikelytoreactwithnitrogen-containingradicals,whilem-xylenewasmorelikelytoreactwithoxygen-containingradicals.
