  • 简介:Inordertoelucidatetheroleofantioxidantresponsesinsalinitytoleranceinricegenotypesundersaltstress,experimentswereconductedusingfourricevarieties,includingsalt-sensitiveBRRIdhan28andthreesalt-tolerantvarietiesBRRIdhan47,BINAdhan8andBINAdhan10.Thirty-day-oldriceseedlingsweretransplantedintopots.Attheactivetilleringstage(35daftertransplanting),plantswereexposedtodifferentsalinitylevels(0,20,40and60mmol/LNaCl).Saltstresscausedasignificantreductioningrowthforallthericegenotypes.Growthreductionwashigherinthesalt-sensitivegenotypethaninthesalt-tolerantones,andBINAdhan10showedhighersalttoleranceinallmeasuredphysiologicalparameters.ThereductioninshootandrootbiomasswasfoundtobeminimalinBINAdhan10.ChlorophyllcontentsignificantlydecreasedundersaltstressexceptforBINAdhan10.Prolinecontentsignificantlyincreasedinsalt-tolerantricegenotypeswithincreasedsaltconcentration,andthehighestprolinecontentwasobtainedfromBINAdhan10undersaltstress.Catalaseandascorbateperoxidaseactivitiessignificantlydecreasedinsalt-sensitivegenotypewhereassignificantlyincreasedinsalt-tolerantoneswithincreasingsaltconcentration.However,saltstresssignificantlydecreasedguaiacolperoxidaseactivityinallthericegenotypesirrespectiveofsalttolerance.K+/Na+ratioalsosignificantlydecreasedinshootsandrootsofallthericegenotypes.Thesalt-tolerantgenotypeBINAdhan10maintainedhigherlevelsofchlorophyllandprolinecontentsaswellascatalaseandascorbateperoxidaseactivitiesundersaltstress,thus,thismightbetheunderlyingmechanismforsalttolerance.

  • 简介:Marineorganismsconstituteunlimitedresourceofbioactivesubstancesduetotheirhighbiodiversityandrepresentavaluablesourceofnewcompounds.Thisstudyoptimizedthealkali-extractionconditionsandantioxidantactivitiesofsolublepolysaccharidesfromthebodywallofSipunculusnudus.Theeffectsofsolid-liquidratio,extractionduration,extractiontemperature,andalkaliconcentrationontheyieldofS.nuduspolysaccharides(SNP)wereexamined,accordingtowhichtheoptimalcombinationofextractionparameterswasobtainedbyanorthogonaltest.TherelativeinfluencingimportanceofdifferentextractionparametersontheyieldofSNPfollowedtheorderassolid-liquidratio>extractiontemperature>alkaliconcentration>extractionduration.Thehighestextractionyield,1.98%,wasachievedunderanoptimalextractioncondition:temperature60℃,solid-liquidratio1:6gmL?1,duration5h,andalkali(NaOH)massfraction6%.TheinvitroantioxidantactivitiesexaminationshowedthatextractedSNPunderthisoptimizedconditionhadstrongpowerinreducingcertainhydroxylandsuperoxideradicalscavengingabilities.ThepromisingresultsshowedthatextractedSNPcouldbeapotentnaturalantioxidant.

  • 简介:ThispaperaimstopresentanexperimentdevelopedinatechnologydegreecollegeinS?oPaulo:thefreshmenintegrationandremedialclassesweek.Thisworkwasdevelopedduetothedropoutratethatoccurredinseveralcourses.The50%dropoutratewascollectedthroughasampleofthefirstsemesterfrom2012to2014.Thiscollegehascoursesinweldingtechnology,mechanicalmanufacturing,industrialautomationandrefrigeration,airconditioning,andventilationandheating.Itisapubliccollege.Astheyarecoursesoftheareaofmechanicalengineering,theirfirstsemestersconsistofcalculus,physics,chemistry,statistics,andotherdisciplinesthatrequiresolidknowledgebackgroundfromseniorhighschool.Thisisnottherealityfortheprofileofincomingstudents.Ninety-fivepercentofthestudentscomefrompublicschools.Remedialclassesweekiscomprisedofremedialclassesonmathematics,motivationallectures,presentationoftheacademic,andjobmarketarea,aswellasintegrationwithveteranstudents,teachers,andcoordinators.Thisworkbeganin2014andtherewas35%evasionreduction.

  • 简介:EuphorbiakansuiisacommonlyusedtraditionalChinesemedicineforthetreatmentofedema,pleuraleffusion,andasthma,etc.Accordingtothepreviousresearches,terpenoidsinE.kansuipossessvariousbiologicalactivities,e.g.,anti-virus,anti-allergy,antitumoreffects.Inthiswork,twentyfiveterpenoidswereisolatedfromE.kansui,includingthirteeningenane-andeightjatrophane-typediterpenoids(withtwonewcompounds,kansuininPandQ)andfourtriterpenoids.EighteenofthemwereanalyzedbyMTSassayforinvitroanticanceractivityinfivehumancancercelllines.Structure-activityrelationshipfor12ingenane-typediterpenoidsincolorectalcancerColo205cellswerepreliminarystudied.Significantanti-proliferationactivitieswereobservedinhumanmelanomacellsbreastcancerMDA-MB-435cellsandColo205cells.Morethanhalfoftheisolatedingenane-typediterpenoidsshowedinhibitoryactivitiesinMDA-MB-435cells.Eightingenane-andonejatrophane-typediterpenoidspossessedmuchlowerIC_(50)valuesinMDA-MB-435cellsthanpositivecontrolstaurosporine.Preliminarystructure-activityrelationshipanalysisshowedthatsubstituentonposition20wasimportantfortheactivityofingenane-typediterpenoidsinColo205cellsandsubstituentonposition3contributedmoresignificantbiologicalactivityofthecompoundsthanthatonposition5inbothMDA-MB-435andColo205cells.

  • 简介:Theeffectsofpolishingonproximatecompositions,physico-chemicalcharacteristics,mineralcompositionsandantioxidantpropertiesofthericefloursobtainedfromthreedifferentpigmentedricevarieties(Chak-haoAngangba,Chak-haoAmubiandChak-haoPoireiton)wereinvestigated.Thericevarietiesweresignificantly(P<0.05)differentinthecontentsofthetestcharacteristics.Lipids,ash,minerals,phytochemicals(phenolicacidsandflavonoids)and2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)activityofricefloursweredecreasedafterpolishing(9%degreeofmilling),whileamylosecontentandlightnesswereincreased.X-raydiffractionpatternofricefloursexhibitedA-typecrystallinepatternwithreflectionsat15.1o,17.1o,18.2oand23.0o.Pastingpropertiesandtransitiontemperaturesweredecreasedafterpolishingtreatment.Polishingresultedinchangesinthecrystallinity,enthalpyandmorphologyofriceflours.

  • 简介:Presentstudywasconductedtocharacterisetenrice(OryzasativaL.)cultivarsviz.IET-23466,Dhan-201,IET-23448,MAS-946,IET-23445,IET-23463,IET-23455,PR-123,PR-115andIET-23449basedonantioxidants(totalphenolics,flavonolsandtannins),bioactivecompounds(phyticacid,gammaaminobutyricacid,tocopherolandreducedascorbate)andantioxidantactivity(1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazylradicalscavengingactivity,hydroxylradicalscavengingactivity,freeradicalantioxidantpowerandtotalreducingpower)withanaimtoidentifycultivarscontaininghigherhealthpromotingcomponentsaftergermination.ThreecultivarsIET-23466,IET-23463andPR-123performedbetterasrevealedbyhigherlevelofantioxidants,bioactivecompoundsandantioxidantactivitybeforeandaftergermination.ThreecultivarsMAS-946,IET-23445andIET-23449hadmoderatelevelofantioxidants,bioactivecompoundsandantioxidantactivity.FourcultivarsDhan-201,IET-23448,IET-23455andPR-115performedintermediately.Strongpositivecorrelationwasobservedamongtotalphenolicsandtheantioxidantactivity.Phyticacidwasfoundtobenegativelycorrelatedtotheantioxidantactivity.OurresultshighlightedthatcultivarsIET-23466,IET-23463andPR-123holdgreatpotentialaftergerminationandwouldopenupausefulopportunityforthefunctionalfoodindustry,andconsumptionofthesecultivarsaftergerminationwouldaffordhealthbenefitstoconsumerssincetheycontainhigherlevelofantioxidants.

  • 简介:StormsthatoccurattheBayofBengal(BoB)areofabimodalpattern,whichisdifferentfromthatoftheotherseaareas.ByusingtheNCEP,SSTandJTWCdata,thecausesofthebimodalpatternstormactivityoftheBoBarediagnosedandanalyzedinthispaper.TheresultshowsthattheseasonalvariationofgeneralatmospherecirculationinEastAsiahasaregulatingandcontrollingimpactontheBoBstormactivity,andthe'bimodalperiod'ofthestormactivitycorrespondsexactlytotheseasonalconversionperiodofatmosphericcirculation.Theminorwindspeedofshearspringandautumncontributedtothestorm,whichwasacrucialfactorforthegenerationandoccurrenceofthe'bimodalpattern'stormactivityintheBoB.Theanalysisonseasurfacetemperature(SST)showsthattheSSTsofalltheyeararoundintheBoBareameettheconditionsrequiredforthegenerationoftropicalcyclones(TCs).However,theSSTsinthecentralareaofthebayarehigherthanthatofthesurroundingareasinspringandautumn,whichfacilitatestheoccurrenceofa'two-peak'stormactivitypattern.Thegenesispotentialindex(GPI)quantifiesandreflectstheenvironmentalconditionsforthegenerationoftheBoBstorms.ForGPI,theintenselow-levelvortexdisturbanceinthetroposphereandhigh-humidityatmospherearethesufficientconditionsforstorms,whilelargemaximumwindvelocityofthegroundvortexradiusandsmallverticalwindsheararethenecessaryconditionsofstorms.

  • 简介:Background:Playersmaynotacquireadequatelevelsofmoderate-to-vigorousphysicalactivity(MVPA)whenplayingcommercialvideogames.Thisstudy’sgoalwastoevaluatetheeffectsofanexercisebikevideogameplayedbyusingamobileapplication-basedexergamethatwasdesignedexclusivelytopromoteparticipants’MVPA,withadditionalattentionpaidtothisgame’sabilitytopromotegreatersituationalinterest.Methods:Anexperimentaldesignwasusedwith163students(aged20.31±1.30,18–26years,61.3%male),allofwhomwererandomlyallocatedintoanexperimentalgroupandacontrolgroup.Physicalactivity(PA)levelswereassessedwithActiGraphGT3X+(ActiGraphInc.,FortWaltonBeach,FL,USA)accelerometers.Thesituationalinterestscalewasusedtoevaluatestudents’situationalinterestinbothgroups.Multivariateanalysisofvariancewasconductedtoexaminethedifferencesbetweensedentarybehavior,PAlevels,andsituationalinterestbetweengroups.Regressionanalyseswerealsoused,withthepurposebeingtoevaluatethestrengthoftherelationshipbetweenPAandsituationalinterest.Results:Resultsrevealedthattheexperimentalgrouphadhigherdegreesofsedentarybehavior,lightPA,totalinterest,instantenjoyment,explorationintention,attentiondemand,novelty,andchallenge,whereasthecontrolgroupreceivedhigherscoresforMVPA(control95.01%vs.experimentalgroup89.94%).Regressionanalysisindicatedthatinstantenjoyment(β=0.49,p<0.01),explorationintention(β=0.18,p<0.05),andattentiondemand(β=0.17,p<0.05)werepositivepredictorsfortotalinterest,explaining43%ofitsvariance.Conclusion:Anewlydesignedmobileapplication-basedexergameplayedviaanexercisebikemayenhancesituationalinterestandprovideadecentlevelofPAforplayers.
