简介:Therelationshipbetweentacitknowledgeandinformalnetworkshasnotbeenfullyexplored.Tacitknowledgecannotbewellmanageddirectly,becauseitisdeeplyembeddedinindividualactionsandexperiences.Thisstudyproposesanapproachtomanaginginformalnetworksasanewmiddlewaytofacilitatethesharingandtransferringoftacitknowledge,owingtothefactthattacitknowledgeismostlysharedandtransferredthroughinformalnetworks.Tosupporttheideaoftheapproach,anempiricalcasestudyofapplyingtheapproachtomanagementofalargescientificprojectisalsoincluded.Ourfindingssuggestthatinformalnetworksplayessentialrolesformanagementoftacitknowledge,andthusgoodmanagementofinformalnetworkscanleadtoefficientsharingandtransferringoftacitknowledge.
