  • 简介:Strengtheningreinforcedconcrete(R.C.)beamsusingprestressedglassfiber-reinforcedpolymer(PGFRP)wasstudiedexperimentallyasdescribedinPartⅠofthispaper(Huangetal.,2005).Inthatpaper,R.C.beams,R.C.beamswithGFRP(glassfiber-reinforcedpolymer)sheets,andR.C.beamswithPGFRPsheetsweretestedinbothunder-strengthenedandover-strengthenedcases.Thetestresultsshowedthattheload-carryingcapacities(ultimateloads)ofthebeamswithGFRPsheetsweregreaterthanthoseofthebeamswithoutpolymersheets.Theload-carryingcapacitiesofbeamswithPGFRPsheetsweregreaterthanthoseofbeamswithGFRPsheets.Theobjectiveofthisworkistodevelopananalyticalmethodtocomputealloftheseload-carryingcapacities.ThisanalyticalmethodisindependentoftheexperimentsandbasedonlyonthetraditionalR.C.andP.C.(prestressedconcrete)theory.Theanalyticalresultsaccordedwiththetestresults.ItissuggestedthatthisanalyticalmethodbeusedforanalyzinganddesigningR.C.beamsstrengthenedusingGFRPorPGFRPsheets.

  • 简介:Inthispaper,wepresenttheluminescentpropertiesofTm3+∕Ho3+co-dopednewglass.Aseriesofsilicategermanateglasswaspreparedbytheconventionalmelt-quenchingmethod.IntheTm3+∕Ho3+co-dopedsilicategermanateglass,astrongemissionof2μmoriginatingfromtheHo3+:5I7→5I8transitioncanbeobservedunderconventional808nmpumping.Thecharacteristictemperatures,structure,andabsorptionspectrahavebeenmeasured.TheradiativepropertiesofHo3+inthepreparedglasswerecalculated.TheemissioncrosssectionofHo3+ionstransitioncanreach4.78×10-21cm2around2μm,andtheFWHMisashighas153nm.TheenergytransferefficiencybetweenHo3+andTm3+hasalargevalue(52%),whichindicatestheTm3+∕Ho3+co-dopedsilicategermanateglassisasuitablecandidateforthe2μmlaser.Moreover,theenergytransfermechanismbetweenTm3+andHo3+ionswasinvestigated.

  • 简介:Thelargesize,crack-freeZr55Cu30Al10Ni5bulkmetallicglass(BMGs)withthediameterof54mmandtheheightof15mmwasbuiltbylasersolidformingadditivemanufacturingtechnology,whosesizeislargerthanthecriticaldiameterbycasting.Themicrostructure,tensileandcompressivedeformationbehaviorsandfracturemorphologyoflasersolidformedZr55Cu30Al10Ni5BMGswereinvestigated.Itisfoundthatthecrystallizationmainlyoccursintheheat-affectedzonesofdepositionlayers,whichconsistofAl5Ni3Zr2,NiZr2,ZrCu,CuZr2phases.Thecontentofamorphousphaseinthedepositisabout63%.Underthecompressiveloading,thedepositpresentsnoplasticitybeforefractureoccurs.Thefractureprocessismainlycontrolledbytheshearstressandthecompressiveshearfractureanglesofabout39.Thecompressivestrengthreaches1452MPa,whichisequivalenttothatofas-CastZr55Cu30Al10Ni5BMGs,andthereexistvein-likepatterns,river-likepatternsandsmoothregionsatthecompressivefractography.Underthetensileloading,thedepositpresentsthebrittlefracturepatternwithoutplasticdeformation.Thefractureprocessexhibitsnormalfracturemodel,andthetensileshearfractureangleofabout90°.Thetensilestrengthisonlyabout609MPa,andthetensilefractographymainlyconsistsofmicro-scaledcoresandvein-likepatterns,dimple-likepatterns,chocolate-likepatternsandsmoothregions.Theresultsfurtherverifiedthefeasibilityandlargepotentialoflaseradditivemanufacturingonfabricationandindustrialapplicationoflarge-scaleBMGsparts.

  • 简介:Broadband(1.6–18THz)terahertztime-domainspectroscopy(THz-TDS)andtime-resolvedterahertzspectroscopy(TRTS)wereperformedona54μmthickchalcogenideglass(As30Se30Te40)samplewithatwo-colorlaser-inducedairplasmaTHzsystemintransmissionandreflectionmodes,respectively.Twoabsorptionbandsat2–3and5–8THzwereobserved.TRTSrevealsanultrafastrelaxationprocessofthephotoinducedcarrierresponse,welldescribedbyarateequationmodelwithafiniteconcentrationofmid-bandgaptrapstatesforself-trappedexcitons.ThephotoinducedconductivitycanbewelldescribedbytheDrude–Smithconductivitymodelwithacarrierscatteringtimeof12–17fs,andweobservesignificantcarrierlocalizationeffects.Afastrefractiveindexchangewasobserved100fsbeforetheconductivityreacheditsmaximum,with2ordersofmagnitudelargeramplitudethanexpectedfortheopticallyinducedTHzKerreffect,indicatingthatfreecarriersareresponsibleforthetransientindexchange.
