简介:Inthisstudy,weexaminedtheeffectofelevatedtemperatureontheexpressionpatternsofgenes,i.e.,nacrein,irr,n16,n19,andhsp70inthepearloysterPinctadafucata.Theexperimentwascarriedoutat4temperatures,i.e.,20℃(ambient,control),24,28℃,and32℃.TheexpressionlevelsoftargetgenesinP.fucatawereassayedat0,6,24,48,and96hviareal-timepolymerasechainreaction.Resultsshowedthattheexpressionlevelsofnacreinandirrhadnosignificantvariationsamongdifferenttimepointsbelow28℃,butsignificantlyincreasedovertimeat32℃.Theexpressionlevelsofn16andn19didnotchangemarkedlyat20℃.Theformerincreasedsignificantlyat6hand24hwhilethelattersubstantiallydecreasedduring6–96hat24,28and32℃.Amongdifferenttemperatures,thelevelofn16wassignificantlylowerat20℃thanatothertemperaturesduring6–96h,andthelevelofn19significantlyvariedamongdifferenttemperaturesat48hand96h.Theexpressionlevelofhsp70wassignificantlyhigherat32℃thanat20,24and28℃at24h.TheseresultsdemonstratedthatelevatedtemperatureimpactedthephysiologicalprocessesofP.fucataandpotentiallyinfluenceditsadaptabilitytothermalstress.

简介:AbstractPurpose:Epileptic seizures frequently result in distinct physical injuries, fractures, traumatic brain injuries and minor trauma. The aim of this study was to retrospectively determine the frequent injury patterns due to seizure episode and to analyze consecutive acute medical care.Methods:This retrospective mono-center study was conducted at Frankfurt University Hospital, Frankfurt am Main, Germany between January 2007 and December 2017. Epilepsy patients with seizure-related fractures admitted to the emergency department were identified via a retrospective systematic query in the hospital information system using the ICD-10 German modification codes G40.0—G40.9. Patients with an unclear diagnosis of epilepsy were excluded. Sociodemographic as well as disease specific aspects were analyzed. Descriptive and Kruskal—Wallis one-way analysis of variance were used for statistical analysis.Results:A total number of 62 epilepsy patients were included. The mean age was 58.1 years. Fractures concerned the upper extremity most frequently (43.5%, n= 20), and 70.0% (14/20) were humerus fractures. Admission to intensive care unit for acute trauma care was necessary in 29.0% patients (n = 18), and surgery in 45.2% patients (n = 28). Twenty-five patients (26.6%) showed clinical or radiological signs of traumatic brain injury. Provoking factors were identified in 20 patients (32.3%), i.e., acute withdrawal or excess of alcohol (n = 15), relevant sleep deprivation (n = 2), and intoxication or withdrawal of other illegal drugs or trivial infect (n = 1 for each) and non-compliance with anti-seizure drugs (n = 1). A decreased T-score (-1.04 ± 1.15) and Z-score (-0.84 ± 0.75) compared to healthy subjects were found.Conclusion:Fractures in upper extremities, trunk and craniocerebral trauma occur frequently as seizure-induced injuries. Alcohol excess and withdrawal are important provoking factors and should be targeted with preventive measurements to avoid seizure related injuries and accidents.
简介:AbstractThe current unprecedented Monkeypox outbreaks emergence and spread on non-endemic countries has led to over 3413 laboratory confirmed cases and one death, and yet, does not constitute a public health emergency of international concern as June 23th 2022. We urgently call for collective regional and global partnership, leadership commitment and investment to rapidly strengthen and implement Monkeypox World Health Organization outbreak Preparedness and emergency response actions plans implementation against Monkeypox outbreak. Given the importance of human-animal-environment interface and transmission dynamics, fostering global and regional One Health approach partnership and multisectoral collaboration programs have timely and robust sustained investment benefits on poverty-linked Monkeypox and other emerging epidemics population-based programs, while leveraging from lessons learnt. Moving forward requires addressing priority research questions listed and closing the knowledge gaps for Monkeypox and others neglected tropical diseases roadmap implementation in vulnerable and at risk countries.

简介:AbstractInnate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are a group of lymphocytes without diversified antigen receptors encoded by gene rearrangement on T and B cells. ILCs, which are tissue-resident innate immune cells, expressed particularly in the mucosa or the barrier surface, contribute to the formation of lymphoid organs, the maintenance of tissue homeostasis, and the regulation of antimicrobial defenses. It has been recently reported that ILCs were enriched at the maternal-fetal interface. During a successful pregnancy, the maternal immune system must tolerate a fetus as an allograft. With the new defined of ILCs, a number of studies have shown that three types of ILCs are involved in embryonic development and pregnancy maintenance as well as the occurrence and development of pregnancy-related complications. This article reviews the types and roles of ILCs in normal pregnancy and pregnancy-related diseases.

简介:Aim:Methodforthedeterninationoferythromycinethylsuccinale(EES)byionsuppressionchromatography(ISC)wasdevelopedandtheinfluencfactorsonISCwereinvestigated.Methods:AZorbaxSB-C18columnwasusedwith0.02mol.L^-1potassiumdihydrogenphosphate-acetonitrile(45:55)asmobilephase,ThepHandproportionofthemobilephaseshowedthegreatestinfluencesonretentionandselectivity.Therefore,thepHofmobilewasadjustedto6.8,thebhestacetonitrileproportionwas55%.Thecolumntemperaturewasmaintainedat(300±0.5)℃.AcetonitrilewasusedassolventforthesamplepreparationbecauseEESismorestableinit.Theflowratewas1.2mL.min^-1andUVdetectionwasperformedat210nm.Results:Underthesechromatographicconditions,themaincomponent(erythromycinAethylsuccinate)anditsrelatedsubstanceswereseparated.Thecalibrationcurveshowedgoodlinearityovertherangeof0.1-1.0mg.mL^-1,anditscorrelationcoefficientwas0.9998.Conclusion:Themethodisverysuitablefortheanalysisoferythromycinethylsuccinate.
